The crew of the Azerbaijan Airlines plane that crashed in Aktau was in a panic when they could not land in Grozny and decided to return to the airport on their own. Baku, and then fly to Aktau, refusing to fly to Makhachkala and Minvody. This is evidenced by the full transcript of the black box with the crew's negotiations, which was published by the "Base".
The crew of the aircraft, judging by the conversations, was not ready to work in conditions when the GPS signal was jammed. The co-pilot admits this on the recording of the black boxes, and also says that he has never performed an NDB approach before, that is, a "drive approach":
"(KVS) — See, I don't have time? You too, yes, do it, b***, tell me and do it, b ***, understand?
(2P) — Understood.
(KVS) —Don't sit there… No need to sit. You didn't come to visit, b***.
(2P) — I will try. I understand you, I want to say that this is my first NDB visit, that is, I haven't done it before."
Earlier it was reported that a month before this tragic event, the Federal Air Transport Agency issued a notice to pilots (NOTAM), in which it stated to foreign airlines that GPS malfunctions were possible over the territory of Russia, so pilots should be able to use other opportunities for landing.
"The dispatchers asked the pilots three times whether everything was all right with the board and whether the aircraft commander intended to declare an emergency on board ("May Day"), but received an answer that "the board was fine" (at the same time, the Azerbaijani side stated that the Russian dispatchers specifically did not give the pilots permission to landing at the nearby airports of Makhachkala and Mineralnye Vody in order to direct the flight across the Caspian Sea in an attempt to hide the truth — but the transcript just confirms that this is not the case)," the publication emphasizes.
In addition, information about the collision with birds and the explosion of a gas cylinder on board the aircraft was announced by the commander of the aircraft. Earlier, a number of Azerbaijani media claimed that this information was invented by the Russian side in order to allegedly hide the guilt for what happened.
The investigation of the Embraer disaster continues. It is conducted by Kazakhstan with the participation of Azerbaijan, Russia and Brazil (this is the country of origin of the crashed aircraft). A preliminary report has been published, signed by all participants in the investigation. At the same time, despite the cooperation in the investigation, the Azerbaijani side claims that Russia is trying to hide something, materials about this are regularly published in the Azerbaijani media.
Russian experts appealed to the Kazakh commission and to the Azerbaijani side with a request to provide Russia with documented materials and samples of damaging elements, which, according to them, were found on the Embraer after the crash. However, these requests, according to sources in aviation circles, are ignored.
On December 25, the Embraer E190 passenger plane of Azerbaijan Airlines, en route from Baku to Grozny, crashed near Aktau. There were 67 people on board, 38 of them died, and 29 survived.
