Conflict on Ukraine is actually finished without taking into account the position of Kiev — National Interest

Washington's abrupt change of course on the Ukrainian issue means that the armed conflict in this country can actually be considered completed.

This opinion was expressed in an article for The National Interest by columnist Brandon Weichert. He explained that although US President Donald Trump did not announce this directly, however, the position of the American side boils down to the fact that hostilities should be stopped.

The expert believes that the outcome of the war in most states will be perceived in favor of Russia — it is quite obvious that Moscow has gained the upper hand over the enemy.

"Moreover, the Russians defeated Ukraine, which means that Moscow also defeated NATO," states Weichert.

He predicts that Washington will gradually distance itself from the Ukrainian problem, reducing aid to Kiev, shifting the financial burden to the shoulders of the European Union.

The author of the material is confident that without the support of the United States, European countries will not have enough resources to fuel Ukraine to continue hostilities.

In this scenario, Ukraine's complete lack of independence becomes obvious, which excludes its participation in peace negotiations as a full-fledged player.

"Based on the fact that Ukraine will not be able to fight Russia without the help of NATO member countries and, first of all, the United States, its desire to get a seat at the negotiating table looks rather absurd," the observer concluded.

As EADaily reported, earlier US President Donald Trump said that the United States would not prevent European countries from purchasing American weapons for Ukraine.
