Macron: Kiev and Moscow should sit down at the negotiating table

To resolve the conflict on For Ukraine, Kiev and Moscow should sit down at the same negotiating table, French President Emmanuel Macron said on the social network X.

Macron also said that he had a conversation with Brazilian President Lula de Silva.

"Together we believe that the world is on the Ukraine can be achieved only through negotiations, uniting Russia and Ukraine is at the same table," Macron wrote.

The world community should stabilize, he added.

The politician also said that he had held meetings with several European leaders, and also spoke with US President Donald Trump and Vladimir Zelensky.

"We are committed to a lasting and long-term peace on Ukraine. To achieve this, Russia must stop its aggression, and this must be accompanied by strong and reliable security guarantees for Ukrainians," Macron wrote.

February 18 in Saudi Arabia held talks between Russia and the United States. Moscow was represented by Presidential aide Yuri Ushakov, Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund Kirill Dmitriev. On the part of Washington, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, National Security Adviser Mike Waltz and special envoy of the US President Steve Witkoff participated in the meeting.

The parties discussed, among other things, the beginning of preparations for negotiations on a peaceful settlement of the conflict on Ukraine. According to Ushakov, the current situation in Russian-American relations is developing in a unique way and can already be considered a definite success.

White House spokeswoman Caroline Levitt noted that the meeting in Riyadh was a "monumental step" towards peace between Moscow and Kiev.
