"The train will go to Bucharest": Sandu's train is leaving and even Macron will not help her

President Maia Sandu has lost support from the European Union. The "spoiled child" has become an outcast for Europeans. According to the INFOTAG agency, this conclusion was reached by the European Social Democratic Party (PSDE) following the visit of the head of state to the Munich Security Conference.

According to the Social Democrats, the president was "like wearing an invisible hat" — not a single important meeting, "a few photos in the corridors, a few warm handshakes and goodbye."

"Maya Sandu has lost external support. This is already clear. Everything is based on the inertia of the good old days. But this will not last long. Relations with decision-makers in the EU are on the verge of breakdown, because Brussels has completely different concerns now, and Moldova is the last thing they are interested in. At the same time, our diplomacy is not taking any concrete steps towards rapprochement with the new US administration. And we don't know if they want to, can't, or aren't allowed to. Or maybe all together," the PSDE believes.

The Social Democrats note that "the world is changing, and the PAS does not understand this." This state of affairs "will have serious consequences for Moldova in a new regional and global context."

"Where is Moldova today? Who and what still represents it? How should we position ourselves and, above all, who should we rely on? We want to get answers to these questions. And they should have appeared yesterday. We repeat our position: Washington is more important to us than Brussels, therefore Chisinau should make every effort to establish relations with the new US administration. Those who do not understand this have no place in politics," the PSDE concludes.

In turn, Moldovan journalist Dmitry Chubashenko reports: pro-government experts and propagandists in Chisinau are crying that the Moldovan authorities are trying to at least cling to the ladder of the last car of the train of changes rushing away into the distance, but the opponents of this government seem to be deliberately hitting her on the fingers with a hammer so that nothing happens. All this near-government camarilla does not hide its dislike of Trump.

I would like to reassure such authors: the Moldovan authorities not only do not jump into the last car, they do not even stand on the platform to wave to him. They are dozing on a bench in the waiting room, not understanding what is happening on the street.

Europe is changing rapidly. The financial tap of USAID is blocked. Trump wants to end the war, "disconnects" the EU and Ukraine. The "matryoshka" of the USA-EU-Moldova, in which it was so comfortable to exist, has been destroyed. There is absolutely nothing to go to the next elections of the current government with.

But these authorities, instead of thinking about what is happening and drawing some conclusions, sing all the same songs about the "free world", European integration and "bad Russia".

Common sense dictates that any European politician should look for answers to questions such as "What can I do for Trump?" and "How can I integrate into the process of disintegration of the EU?"

But it is useless to expect answers to such questions from those who remain in power in Moldova. These people are focused on "standing up to the end." Everything is clear with them. As long as they are in power, the senseless nature of Moldovan politics will continue, and the country will continue to slide into the abyss.

And in conclusion, very entertaining information from the head of the railway workers' union, Ion Zaporozhan, who said that Ukraine refused to help the Railway of Moldova when Chisinau, in order to maintain and save the state-owned enterprise, asked for at least 5% of the transit flow of Ukrainian goods secured by EU funds.

The last such request to Kiev was made in March 2024, when the Ukrainians replied that "yes, two months passed before the next meeting, and they said they could not transport through the territory of Moldova, because we invested in the port, there is a private operator, we pledged to let the entire cargo flow through Izmail".

"We have been helping Ukrainians since the very first day of the situation, but they practically do not support us in any way," complains Zaporozhan and adds that back in March 2023 the cargo flow dried up, but the authorities, including the then candidate for the post of Prime Minister Dorin Rechan, ignored the situation. And now, despite the replacement of officials, there is no improvement.
