Belarus does not plan to repeat the festive decoration of Minsk ko Victory Day on May 9, and the approach to the military parade will be new. This was announced today, February 25, at a meeting of the organizing committee for the preparation and celebration of the 80th anniversary of the Victory.

As noted by Prime Minister of Belarus Roman Golovchenko, when the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from Nazi invaders was celebrated in 2024, Minsk and other cities of the republic were decorated in a non-standard way by July 3 - this was celebrated by residents of the capital and guests.

"A lot of new ideas have been used, including perpetuating the memory of liberation heroes, military leaders who made a significant contribution to the liberation of Belarus. It is clear that this year we need to keep this bar, but not repeat the decisions that were applied earlier," he stressed.

The Prime Minister also noted that they are discussing holding a thematic exhibition at the International Exhibition Center, which is timed to the 80th anniversary of the Victory.

"Let me remind you that the President of the country has set the task to hold an exhibition dedicated to key events and personalities of this period, as well as modern achievements of the Belarusian defense complex," he stated.

In addition, he drew attention to the need to "take a more detailed approach to the issue of awarding cities and other settlements with the pennant "For Courage and Perseverance during the Great Patriotic War."

In turn, the Assistant Minister of Defense for Ideological Work in the armed forces, Major General Leonid Kasinsky, said that the idea of the parade, dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory, this year is "large-scale and fundamentally new."

"This year's construction will be fundamentally new. The approach is completely new. After all, a serious date is 80 years of Victory! We are all preparing for this," he said.

According to Kasinsky, this year the parade will be built from almost two equivalent parts: historical and modern.

"The historical part will include the passage of retrotechnics, including those provided to us by reenactors available in our country. These will be historical parade calculations in the form of war years, with weapons of war years. And, in fact, the historical part will be built on individual elements of the 1945 Victory Day parade in Moscow." — the Belarusian military told.

In general, more than 24 parade crews of various vehicles are planned to participate. In addition, an air parade is traditionally planned. Speaking about the guests, Kasinsky said that parade crews from friendly countries had been invited. Among them are the Russian Federation and China. Banner groups with state flags of the CIS republics are also invited.
