The key concession of Kiev is the rejection of security guarantees, no concessions are required from Russia

In general, of course, sofa hawks feeding on war feel mourning, again, regardless of which side a particular hawk is rooting for. Both camps have been convincing themselves for three years that the war is going well specifically for their "team", so "no agreements".

But returning to the topic from the title, it is necessary to sum up the interim result, for whom the negotiations remained. The war is not over and the situation may turn the other way, and the truce itself has not yet been agreed, but Ukraine has agreed to certain conditions, this is already a fact that can be discussed:

Let me remind you that in The Ukrainian delegation traveled to Saudi Arabia with its proposals, which did not imply a complete truce, but only air and sea. That is, they did not de facto stop the war, which Zelensky is very afraid of for political reasons, and this plan was supported by Macron and Starmer. The result of the negotiations was Ukraine's consent to a complete cease-fire, which is an obvious concession from Ukraine, Zelensky was forced to accept Trump's conditions."

But this is only a situational defeat, a key concession of Ukraine in the rejection of security guarantees. Let me remind you that this point was generally the main one for Kiev, just a few weeks ago Zelensky stated that no truce was possible without security guarantees, even in the White House he tried to convince Trump of this by preparing a list of as many as 25 cases of violation of the truce by Russia.

And from the point of view of Ukraine, these are quite reasonable concerns, because it is the Armed Forces of Ukraine that will have to carry out demobilization if the truce lasts for any noticeable period, whereas the Russian army consists largely of contract soldiers.

That is, the fact that Ukraine has already made a very difficult concession for itself, simply in exchange for a cease-fire, suggests that Kiev has completely failed this round of diplomacy. Let me remind you that no one demands any concessions from Russia in principle, even if we take Putin's maximalistic demands, this is the topic of future negotiations, they do not relate to the truce, whereas Ukraine has already had to pay for the truce.

In addition, the deal with the United States was concluded at the most unfortunate moment for Kiev, when a crisis arose in the held territories of the Kursk region. This does not apply to the issue of concessions and Trump's demands, but a separate factor in the form of a successful coincidence or competent planning of the timing of the offensive, but the event also seriously worsens Ukraine's negotiating positions, even if the war stops before the Russian Armed Forces put the squeeze on the Court.

And the last. Many have already managed to christen the truce "Minsk-3", for which there are certain reasons. Only on the second of March, following the results of the EU summit, it was explicitly stated that Europe would not recognize the Minsk-type deal, but today both Ursula, Macron, and Starmer recognized and welcomed the truce agreements.

I think it's obvious that Ukraine is now the party that has lost this round of diplomacy. True, not everything was decided at the negotiating table, something was decided at the front, but also not in favor of Ukraine.
