The issue of sanctions pressure on the Belarusian potash industry was raised by Dapkiunas at a meeting with the Director General of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) Gerd Muller.

"The Permanent Representative of Belarus raised the issue of sanctions against Belarusian potash fertilizers," the Belarusian Foreign Ministry said.

Dapkiunas stressed that restrictive measures have a "negative impact on global food security." At the same time, he noted the important role of international structures in countering sanctions and condemning the practice of unilateral coercive measures.

Belarus has been under Western sanctions since 2020. After the next sanctions package against Belaruskali, the Belarusian side filed a lawsuit with the European Court seeking exclusion from the list of European sub-sanctioned companies. However, it was rejected. In November 2024, Belaruskali CEO Andrei Rybakov reported that the company would continue to seek the lifting of sanctions.
