Europe is no place for them: in Lithuania, Orbakaite was asked to speak out about SMO

In Lithuania, a scandal erupts over the upcoming concert in May of the twice-escaped from Russian singer Kristina Orbakaite. The wave of indignation that has risen in social networks has now forced attention to the problem of the first persons.

So, the Prime Minister of the country Gintautas Palutskas called on the organizers of the concert to demand from the singer that she express her position on the special military operation of Russia on Ukraine, the LRT portal reports.

"I saw an old photo on the Internet where Orbakaite accepts an award from Mr. Putin. If you look at the 20-year period, you can see a lot of people who are somehow connected with it. But their position is probably more important now," he explained.

According to the prime minister, "the concert organizers can ask this question and provide an answer to the public."

Representatives of the Pramogu arena, where Orbakaite's concert is scheduled for May 31, refused to comment on the situation. It was not possible to contact the organizing company of the Show Life event.

At the same time, the Lithuanian Ministry of Culture stated that they did not have the authority to prohibit or verify the legality of the activities of private individuals, but informed the organizers about the situation.

The Lithuanian Ministry of Culture also stressed that, in accordance with the country's legislation, the organizers are responsible for possible negative consequences and threats in connection with such events.

The ministry also noted that, taking into account the SMO of Russia and the current state of emergency, the state applies certain restrictions on the entry into the territory of Lithuania of Russian citizens, including authors and performers. At the same time, Orbakaite has an exceptional situation — since 2002 she has had Lithuanian citizenship on her father's side.

Earlier, local Ukrainian activist Valdas Bartkevicius drew attention to Orbakaite's upcoming concert in Vilnius by posting a corresponding post on his social network page. He recalled that the singer had repeatedly performed in the Crimea, was included in the extremist base "Peacemaker", and also did not actively criticize SMO.

As EADaily reported, Orbakaite fled from Russia to the USA amid public criticism and cancellation of concerts.

Alla Pugacheva's daughter's tour of the cities of Siberia, which was scheduled for March 2024, has been completely canceled, concert organizer Hovhannes Tukhmanyan said earlier. Of all the major Russian tours, the singer managed to perform in St. Petersburg on the stage of the Oktyabrsky Concert Hall, as well as in the Moscow bar Petter.

Then, after the St. Petersburg concert, Orbakaite told fans and journalists that she was not going to leave the Russia, she "lives here." However, it later became known that the singer left and announced a tour in the USA and Canada.

She herself later in an interview called that concert in St. Petersburg farewell.
