Krasnoselsky convened the Security Council: a state of emergency is being introduced in Transnistria

Today, on December 6, President of Pridnestrovie Vadim Krasnoselsky gathered members of the Security Council for a meeting on the issue of providing the country with energy resources.

Due to the uncertainty with gas supplies in January 2025, when Ukraine intends to restrict Gazprom's transit, a proposal was made to introduce an economic emergency in the republic.

The President noted that negative trends in this area have been observed for several years. External factors — military operations on Ukraine and instability in Moldova have a detrimental impact on the situation in Transnistria, hindering the full and dynamic development of the country's economy. Moreover, the risks associated with ensuring the vital activity of the republic are artificially created.

"It's not in my rules to disturb people before they need to, speculate, create some kind of information platforms to worry people. And today there is no 100% guarantee for both gas supply and its absence. Nevertheless, we must prepare for any development of events. Today, at a meeting of the Security Council, we will specifically examine the actions of each manager, each employee, each organization in the conditions of gas supply, partial gas supply and in its complete absence. I repeat once again: it is impossible to say what the scenario will be, but it is necessary to prepare," Krasnoselsky emphasized.

Minister of Economic Development of the PMR Sergey Obolonik informed the Security Council that in case of termination of gas supply to the republic, the Moldavian GRES will be converted to coal, which will allow to meet the humanitarian needs of the republic in electricity within 50 days. We are talking about the supply of electricity to residential buildings, social institutions, as well as to enterprises that produce food products, and to organizations that ensure the livelihoods of citizens.

Also, the government of the PMR has worked out the issue of temporary suspension of the activities of individual organizations, consolidation or consolidation of teams to heat smaller areas, transfer, if possible, to a remote location. As for the water supply, cold water will be supplied regardless of the presence of gas.

A significant part of the meeting was devoted to ensuring food security in conditions of shortage or lack of gas supply. The Transnistrian consumer as a whole will be provided. Also, to date, stocks of medicines have been formed for six months. Among other things, the president instructed to prepare rooms for heating citizens who find themselves in a difficult situation. Lunches at heating points must be provided.

"At the end of the many-hour meeting, the members of the Security Council unanimously decided on the expediency of introducing Pridnestrovie is in an economic emergency," the press release says following the meeting of the Security Council.
