Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, who is considered one of the closest associates of US President-elect Donald Trump, will not fly to his inauguration.

A spokesman for the Hungarian government, Zoltan Kovacs, explained that no world leader had received an "official" invitation from Trump to the inauguration.

"Anyone who will be there does so by personal invitation, and not in any official capacity, since this is not an opportunity for official conversations or meetings, but serves a completely different purpose," Kovacs said.

On the day when Trump will be sworn in as the next president of the United States, Viktor Orban will speak in Budapest at a conference dedicated to summarizing the results of Hungary's presidency in The Council of the EU, which ended at the end of last year.
