The far-right political leaders of Europe from the parliamentary faction "Patriots for Europe" at a meeting in Madrid praised US President Donald Trump and said they want to make Europe great again. It is reported by the British TV channel Sky News.

The meeting was attended by Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, Italian Deputy Prime Minister Matteo Salvini, leader of the French National Union Party Marine Le Pen and the founder of the Dutch PVV party Geert Wilders. The event was organized by the Spanish far-right party Vox, about 2 thousand people took part in it.

"We are facing a real turning point... the EU seems to be in a state of shock," Le Pen said.

She noted that European leaders, whose Patriots for Europe group has 84 seats in the European Parliament, "are the only ones who can talk to the new Trump administration."

Le Pen was supported by Viktor Orban, who noted that "Trump's tornado changed the world, the era is over, yesterday we were heretics, today we are the majority."

In addition, Orban on his page in the social network X, commenting on the meeting in Spain, mentioned Ukraine.

"Because of Brussels, the European economy is slowly sinking. Because of Brussels, our money is sent to Ukraine, a hopeless war. Because of Brussels, migrants have flooded Europe," the Hungarian prime minister wrote.

There have been regular calls for a new Reconquista with references to the medieval conquest of Muslim-controlled parts of the Iberian Peninsula by Christian kingdoms, Sky News notes.

According to Salvini, the elections in Germany at the end of this month represent a "historic opportunity", since the Alternative for Germany (AfD) party is in second place, second only to the center-right opposition bloc Union of Friedrich Merz.

The protection of European borders from illegal migration was another topic touched upon by each speaker at the two-day event, despite the fact that the number of illegal border crossings The EU has shrunk dramatically in the past year, according to data from the bloc's border control agency Frontex, the TV channel reports.

As EADaily reported, a summit with the participation of leaders of right-wing conservative parties, which was held in a hotel in Madrid, was attacked by a bare-chested activist of the Femen group.
