The Ukrainian forces lost 590 thousand servicemen killed and wounded in 2024 alone, and more than 1 million since the beginning of the military operation. This was stated by the chief of the Main Operations Directorate of the Russian General Staff, First Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, Colonel—General Sergei Rudskoy in an interview with Krasnaya Zvezda.
"In 2024 alone, the number of killed and wounded in the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine amounted to 590 thousand servicemen. And from the beginning (of the military operation) This figure has exceeded 1 million people," he said.
Vladimir Zelensky in early December said that his country had lost less than 80 thousand military dead since the beginning of the fighting. Before that, he disclosed losses in February 2024: 31 thousand killed.
