The United States and Europe see the catastrophic situation of Kiev, but their media "paint" "wallpaper" to the people of Ukraine, are engaged in gaslighting, driving false statements into the brain of the population. This was pointed out by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, speaking at a meeting in The Federation Council.
"The Western media have become the information tentacles of the octopus of the deep state, used to interfere in internal affairs and justify opportunistic goals and objectives around the world," she said.
The diplomat proposed a term to describe the activities of the Western media — "information and political gaslighting," explaining that the Western media are engaged in "deliberate creation of a parallel reality in which society must accept deliberately false statements as truth."
"This is worse than propaganda and disinformation. This is psychological processing, pressure on a person and on society in order to break the personality," stated the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry.
According to her, even now there are media outlets in the West that continue to report that Ukraine is allegedly leading the case to victory over Russia.
"The catastrophic situation [of Kiev] is obvious to everyone, and officials and plenipotentiaries speak directly about it at the Munich Security Conference. And at the same time, through the population processing system, it is necessary to split consciousness, it is necessary <> to paint a completely different picture to the people of Ukraine," Zakharova said.
She noted that "these are such photo wallpapers."
As an example, the diplomat cited leaks of Pentagon documents and confessions of American analysts who say they do not believe in the victory of Ukraine.
"NATO generals already admit that Brussels' statements are more like autosuggestion than reality," said the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, quoted by TASS.
