A protest demonstration against the Pentagon's biological military bases in Armenia took place at the US Embassy in Armenia on March 22. As Sputnik-Armenia reports, the participants of the action brought with them posters "No to biological military bases of the Pentagon in Armenia" and "No to deadly military biological laboratories of the USA."
Military expert Hayk Naapetyan spoke at the event. He stated that as long as there are diplomats in Armenia such as US Ambassador Christine Quinn, the current government headed by Nikol Pashinyan will continue to maintain its position.
The protesters appealed to the Trump administration, which has taken a tough stance on "biological experiments", demanding to suspend the operation of 13 biological laboratories operating in Armenia.
The former head of the Food Safety Service Grigor Grigoryan, who spoke at the rally, said that suspicious experiments are being carried out on the territory of Armenia. He stressed the need for an examination of the US program to reduce biorisks, as they may violate the provisions of the Biological Weapons Convention.
Activists also initiated the collection of signatures with the initiative to declare the US Ambassador Christine Quinn persona non grata and replace her.
They also turned to their compatriots in the United States with a counterproposal, urging them to start a similar process with respect to Armenian Ambassador Lilit Makunts.
