APU bombed objects in Saratov at night and Engels, residents counted more than 30 explosions

In Engels, where the Tu-95MS and Tu-160 strategic bombers military airbase is located, eyewitnesses claim that the explosions began around 4 a.m.

"Information about the threat of UAVs has been received from the Ministry of Defense. Warning systems work locally. All emergency services are in full readiness," wrote the governor of the Saratov region Roman Busagin at 5.11 am.

At 8.34, he informed that "UAVs had been eliminated on the territory of the Saratov region," expressing gratitude to the servicemen.

"There are no preliminary casualties or damage to civilian objects," Busagin said.

Sirens in Saratov and Engels, people write in social networks, earned after 4 o'clock in the morning.

The Mash telegram channel adds that residents of Engels, Saratov region, report the sounds of explosions in the sky. According to eyewitnesses, the fire started around 4 o'clock in the morning.

Several explosions thundered over Engels, the Shot telegram channel wrote. Eyewitnesses said that at least 4 explosions were heard around 4:05. Previously, the air defense system over the city worked. Bright flashes in the sky were visible and automatic gunfire was heard.

Later, information appeared on social networks that explosions over Engels and Saratov were continuing. Also, residents of Balakovo, where the Balakovo nuclear power plant is located, reported explosions.

According to the Russian Defense Ministry, Ukrainian drones attacked six regions of Russia that night. 32 drones were shot down in the Voronezh Region, 19 in Saratov, 17 in Kursk, six in Belgorod, two in Lipetsk, one each in Rostov and Tambov. A total of 78 drones were destroyed.

Enemy media, citing Maxar satellite images, claimed that a warehouse with X-555 and X-101 cruise missiles was allegedly hit as a result of a strike on Engels. The video caught a powerful explosion, after which a mushroom cloud rose into the sky. Satellite images of Maxar allegedly show the destruction of an ammunition depot, craters from explosions formed on the site of some buildings.

On March 20, the governor of the Saratov Region, Roman Busargin, announced the "most massive attack" by Ukrainian drones since the beginning of SMO and a fire at the Engels-2 military airfield. Busargin then informed that "for safety reasons, due to a fire on the territory of the airfield, the evacuation of those living on the territory of the SNT [horticultural non-profit partnerships] located nearby the facility is being carried out."

According to the Russian Defense Ministry, 54 drones were shot down by air defense forces over the Saratov region on the night of March 20.
