British politician, journalist and writer George Galloway will attend the BRICS summit in Kazan, because it can become a turning point in world history. He stated this in a conversation with the newspaper Izvestia.
"BRICS is important in itself, but the upcoming BRICS summit in the geopolitical situation is the most important of all. This could be a turning point in world history," Galloway believes.
According to him, the summit can be remembered as an event that is held with a noble goal — to achieve a more just world order. The politician believes that Western countries adhere to the winner-takes-all policy, which BRICS is struggling with.
"The vast majority of people in the world will be members of BRICS," Galloway is sure.
The 16th summit of the BRICS heads of state, which is a key event of the Russian presidency in the association, will be held in Kazan from October 22 to 24. The BRICS Association was established in 2006 by Brazil, Russia, India and China, in 2011 South Africa joined it. On January 1, 2024 Egypt, Iran, UAE, Saudi Arabia and Ethiopia became full members of the group. The summit in Kazan will be the first to be attended by new members of the association. Representatives of more than 30 countries are expected to participate.
As reported by EADaily, in March of this year Galloway was held in The House of Commons of Great Britain following the results of by-elections in the Rochdale constituency, literally defeating the Tories and the Labour Party. His victory became a real sensation, a popular left-wing activist who gained fame for his criticism of the Iraq war, he retired politically in 2015. But now Galloway is back — at the perfect moment for himself, against the backdrop of the strongest split in Britain because of the war in Gaza. Galloway went to the polls demanding a truce in the Middle East and Ukraine.
