The day before, the Armed Forces of Ukraine had the "first full-scale battle in history" with the DPRK army soldiers in the area of the settlement of Malaya Loknya, Kursk region. This was stated by the editor-in-chief of the site "Censor" Yuri Butusov.
He assures that the battle was hard and the Koreans managed to capture part of the Ukrainian fortifications.
"More than 200 North Korean soldiers attacked Ukrainian positions from several directions. The enemy's goal was to capture one of the sections of the forest belt. Russian troops provided powerful fire support, actively used electronic warfare (EW), including ground stations and Mi-8TPR helicopters. The enemy acted with the tactics of "live waves", reminiscent of the methods of the North Korean and Chinese armies during the Korean War of 1950-1953. The assault groups, despite significant losses, broke through to the Ukrainian positions thanks to good physical fitness and ignoring their own losses," Butusov writes on his social network account, quoted by the Strana newspaper.
According to the Ukrainian journalist, "North Korean units captured part of the trenches, but the Ukrainian troops were able to hold their positions and conduct successful counterattacks to regain control of the situation."
The fighting continues, he assures, "all the time the enemy is being hit by fire."
The Main Directorate of Intelligence (GUR) of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine and the Ukrainian military also reported about the battle with the Koreans in the Kursk region the day before.
There was no official information, including from the Russian Defense Ministry, about the participation of North Korean servicemen in hostilities.
As reported by EADaily, the GUR of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine calls on soldiers from North Korea, allegedly fighting on the side of Russia, to surrender. This was reported by the telegram channel "DW * main".
Leaflets in Korean with instructions and conditions of being held in Ukrainian captivity are scattered from drones "over the positions of the North Korean military in the Kursk region," TK wrote.
