Vilfand warned about abnormal frosts in the regions of Russia

The air temperature will drop by 4-15 degrees below normal in three districts of Russia over the weekend and next week, the thermometer there will drop to minus 29-49 degrees, the scientific director of the Hydrometeorological Center of the country Roman Vilfand told TASS.

"There will be a significant decrease in temperature in the north of the Urals and The Volga region. In the Perm Region on January 21 and 22, the temperature will be 6-7 degrees below normal, it will reach 25-29 degrees below zero. In the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug from January 19 to January 22, the temperature is 5-14 degrees below normal, the absolute values will reach 37-44 degrees below zero," the forecaster said.

Below the norm by 10-15 degrees the air temperature will be at Taimyr — from January 18 to January 22, minus 45-49 degrees is expected there. Evenki district of the Krasnoyarsk Territory on the same dates are waiting for frosts minus 41-45 degrees (below the norm by 4-9 degrees), in the Turukhansky district the thermometer will show 40-42 degrees (below the norm by 7-12 degrees).

"Really severe frosts," Vilfand summed up.

Earlier, Vilfand said that very warm weather is forecast for most of Russia by the end of January.

"The temperature of this January will certainly be very high, not record-breaking, but still high," the forecaster said.

According to Vilfand, in the first 12 days since the beginning of January, the air in Moscow has warmed up so much that now this figure exceeds the norm by 5 degrees. In addition, a thaw is expected in the capital again from January 15.
