The US Office of Personnel Management (US Office of Personnel Management, United States Office of Personnel Management, OPM) recognized the right of individual US departments to decide whether their officials need to report on their work achievements for a week, as the head of the Department of State Efficiency (DOGE), Elon Musk, demanded from civil servants under threat of dismissal, CBS reports.

"The department, which asked federal employees to record five achievements of the last week, told the executive bodies that each structure has the right to make its own decision, despite Musk's threat of layoffs," the TV channel reported, citing two officials.

As noted in the message, each federal agency was allowed to respond to the directive at its own discretion. From this, the channel concludes that the requirement to compile a list of achievements was allowed to be ignored.

Earlier, Musk announced an email sent to all US federal employees asking them to report on what they have done over the past week. The head of DOGE wrote on the social network X that failure to comply with this requirement would be regarded as filing a letter of resignation. Later, the entrepreneur promised to give those who remained silent a second chance, but at the discretion of US President Donald Trump.
