Ukrainian boxer absolute world champion Alexander Usyk commented on the information that Vladimir Zelensky presented his WBC champion belt to US President Donald Trump during a recent scandalous meeting.
During the negotiations, the video and photos of which were seen by the whole world, it was clearly visible how Usyk's belt was lying on the table next to the Ukrainian. It was reported that Zelensky presented it to Trump.
— Your belt is in Washington?
— I do not know. I have all my belts at home.
— And whose belt did Zelensky give to Trump?
— A special belt, I think, of some kind. I know what kind of belt it is, I just can't tell anyone anything. And I don't want to," the Champion quotes Usyk.
Recall that Usyk solemnly presented his championship belt to Zelensky in August 2024, after he won the WBC title by defeating Briton Tyson Fury (first fight) by split decision.
A very piquant situation was commented on by the Olympic champion in speed skating, State Duma deputy Svetlana Zhurova.:
"Trump has already said about Zelensky: he is an artist. Our president does not do this. Well, why such performances, they are definitely useless. I understand that if you hold a hockey match between the national teams of Russia and America — that's a performance, that's a performance. And with a serious meaning, not with a threat. It is necessary to negotiate, and not to demonstrate some kind of strength. This is a very strange decision. If only from the point of view that this is the last victory of Ukraine (with a smile). And even that is the victory of Usyk, not Zelensky. It absolutely does not affect Trump, so such steps are meaningless.
Trump doesn't need such shows. Now we need to negotiate, and throughout the conversation he urged Zelensky to do just that. Trump said: turn on your head already. Maybe this somehow convinced the previous US administration of the seriousness of the intentions of the Ukrainian side. And Trump is a tough businessman in this regard, he will not sell democracy, especially when it is not clear what you will get in the end. After all, unfortunately, there is always a temptation to somehow use this money for other purposes, apparently. And now Trump is asking for all this."
In turn, the well-known blogger and boxer Jake Paul responded on his social network page to one of the users surprised by the intensity of the negotiations: "Wow, Trump and Vance are attacking Zelensky":
"This is not an attack. This is called being a man and doing what is best for our country, correcting the huge mistakes of past administrations that did not have the firmness of character, but had unknown evil intentions to finance a conflict in which millions of people died. This is called saving the lives of soldiers. It's called talking to a disrespectful and ungrateful person right in the face, and that's how everything should be done."
