"An incredible scandal!" — in Poland has no money to paint F-16 aircraft

The Polish government under the leadership of Donald Tusk has not guaranteed sufficient funds for the maintenance of F-16 fighters this year. The opposition is talking about a scandal.

The Polish newspaper Godzine published a document sent to the Military Aviation Plant No. 2, which stated that "due to the allocation of insufficient financial resources for 2025 under the service contract, it is currently impossible to specify the approximate dates for painting F-16 aircraft scheduled for 2025."

According to journalists, this is not about ordinary painting, but about applying a special coating to the car, which makes it difficult for radars to detect the aircraft. According to industry websites, the "hev class II" coating reduces the radar reflection surface by about 15 percent.

"In practice, this means that the aircraft is invisible from a long distance. Over time, the coating is damaged and must be reapplied. Only in 2014, the Polish plant No. 2 received a certificate allowing to update the paintwork of the F-16 fighters. Due to lack of funds, the painting of aircraft this year will most likely not take place," writes the Dozhechi portal.

The Polish opposition has already announced the scandal, believing that such actions undermine Poland's security.

"It's unbelievable! In a situation where there is a war on our borders, cost savings lead to a decrease in the combat value of our Air Force. This is an incredible scandal!", said Andrzej Slivka, a member of the National Defense Committee of the Sejm of the Republic of Poland.

The colleague is echoed by the deputy from the Law and Justice party Bartosz Kovnatsky:

"This is too serious an issue to ignore. We will demand explanations from the Ministry of National Defense and Air Force at the forum of the Parliamentary Committee. Before the united right came to power, we still didn't have enough money for everything. This happened again just a year after the Civic Platform came to power again. It is tragic that this management philosophy touches on such a delicate and fundamental issue as security."
