About 640 thousand migrants are included in the register of foreigners controlled by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia who are in the Russian Federation illegally. This was stated by the head of the Government of the Russian Federation Mikhail Mishustin, answering the questions of deputies in the State Duma.
"Since February 2025, a lot has been written and talked about, a register of controlled entities has been introduced. This is the database of the Ministry of Internal Affairs about foreigners who are illegally in Russia. It seems to me that our Ministry of Internal Affairs also did a great job there — restrictions were imposed on migrants illegally staying in the country. This law, accordingly, was, about 640 thousand persons were included there," Mishustin said.
According to him, the future concept of migration policy presupposes the priority solution of law enforcement tasks, and then the response to the economy's need for workers.
"A large proportion of illegal immigration is generally a threat to public stability and security. But strategically, it is the law enforcement tasks that need to be solved first of all, and then respond to the challenge of insufficient quantity and quality of labor resources," Mishustin added.
