The United States Department of State has announced the reorganization of the Agency for International Development (USAID), which effectively means its liquidation.
It is planned that some of the functions of USAID will be transferred to the State Department by July 1, the rest will be abolished. The corresponding statement was published on the official website of the press service of the State Department.
"Unfortunately, USAID has long deviated from its original mission. As a result, the benefits were too insignificant, and the costs were too high," the document says.
Information about the dissolution of USAID is confirmed by Reuters, citing sources. The article reports that all agency employees will be fired by September 30, 2025. At the same time, all foreign missions of the agency will be completed.
Earlier, EADaily reported that the administration of Donald Trump stopped most of the funding of the Syrian organization "White Helmets", which was carried out through USAID.
