The decision to change the borders of Ukraine can be made only in a referendum, but no one will make concessions. This was stated in an interview with Die Welt by Mikhail Podolyak, adviser to the head of the presidential office.
"Neither the president, nor the Prime Minister, nor the parliament can make decisions affecting territorial integrity. Such decisions can be made only by referendum. No decision will provide for the cession of territory. No one will agree to this," said Podolyak, quoted by Strana.
According to him, the only basis for negotiations is "international law establishing territorial integrity."
"Negotiations are possible only if Putin (Russian President Vladimir Putin. — EADaily) is forced to negotiate," Podolyak added.
As reported by EADaily, at the moment Kiev sees no point in direct negotiations with Russia. This was stated in an interview with the Ukrainian media by the head of the office of the President of Ukraine Andriy Yermak.
