Kiev handed over to the United States and UK list of potential targets in Russia to strike at them with Western weapons. It is reported by Reuters with reference to unnamed European diplomats.
The targets allegedly include command posts, fuel and weapons depots, and troop concentrations.
The Ukrainian authorities intended to use American ATACMS for shelling Russian air bases, however, in The Pentagon said that almost all military airfields where the main strike forces of the Russian Air Force are located are out of range of these missiles.
London is expected to seek Washington's approval to use its missiles against targets deep in Russia. And Paris will make a decision on its own, Reuters reports, citing a French diplomatic source.
At the same time, some American officials note that Kiev is already using drones for targets deep in Russian territory, and Western missiles "are very expensive and their number is limited in order to change the dynamics of the fighting," the Strana newspaper writes.
As reported by EADaily on August 31, the head of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine Rustem Umerov at meetings with high-ranking US officials in Washington presented a list of targets on the territory of Russia. He stated this in an interview with CNN.
"We explained what opportunities we need... so I hope they heard us," Umerov said at the time.
