The United States has passed a simulated electronic launch of the Minuteman III intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM). This was announced on Friday, September 20, by the press service of the Offat Air Force Base in Nebraska, where the test took place.

The test itself was conducted on September 17. It is held twice a year to check the operational readiness and response of the missile system. The US conducted the last training launch of the Minuteman III rocket on June 6.

"The SELM tests are vital for the operability of the ICBM fleet, as they ensure that the system will complete the task if necessary, and also provide data on the state of combat readiness to the Air Force Global Strike Command and the US Strategic Command," the airbase said in a statement.
