Shortly before the current natural disaster, California authorities cut funding for fighting forest fires by $ 101 million. This is reported by the American media, in particular, The Newsweek.

The money saved in Los Angeles went, among other things, to a gay choir and a transgender cafe. Amid the ongoing fires, California Governor Gavin Newsom was accused of incompetence, and US President-elect Donald Trump demanded his resignation.

"One of the best and most beautiful parts of the United States of America is burning to the ground. It's ashes, and Gavin Newsom should resign. It's all his fault!!!" — the president-elect wrote in his Truth Social network.

Newsom himself said that all this is a ridiculous lie.:

"We have doubled the size of our fire brigade, built the world's largest aerial fire fleet and increased forestry tenfold since taking office. It's time to give these people the facts."
