The state-owned company Centrenergo reported that the Russian army had struck an already destroyed power plant.

The Russian army has dealt another blow to the thermal power plant, which had already been destroyed earlier. This is reported by the Ukrainian state-owned company Centrenergo.

"There are no casualties. After the shelling, specialists began to dismantle the rubble," the state—owned company said. They added that the total damage from previous attacks already exceeds 250 million euros, and this amount will only grow as damage assessment is still ongoing.

"In the spring of 2024, Centrenergo became the only company that was forced to completely stop generating due to massive attacks," the state—owned company said.

Centrenergo operated three thermal power plants. The Uglegorsk TPP is already under the control of the Russian army, and the Zmievskaya TPP in the Kharkiv region and the Tripoli TPP in The Kiev region was struck in the spring — Ukraine lost 4 GW of power.

Centrenergo does not report how and which station was hit. It is possible that this happened on Tripoli thermal power plant.

The day before, on January 10, the state-owned company posted photos of the thermal power plant and reported that it actively supports the government's initiative to strengthen the sustainability of the power system through the introduction of distributed generation projects, and Centrenergo has the necessary sites and infrastructure for the installation of gas turbine and gas piston installations.

"While many companies are focused on the purchase of new equipment, PJSC Centrenergo is choosing the path of strategic partnership, attracting investors to place both new and used equipment," the state—owned company reported.

Obviously, this news from the state-owned company itself could have caused the blow, since it was on Tripoli thermal power plant can also accommodate generating equipment.

As EADaily reported, last year the Russian army launched a series of retaliatory strikes on Ukraine's energy infrastructure. In Kiev, they reported the loss of almost half of the generation — more than 9 GW.
