US President Donald Trump said he had not seen reports on US financial assistance to Ukraine. He announced this during a press conference at his residence in Florida. He noted that European countries have sent $ 100 billion to help Kiev, and the United States — more than $ 300 billion.
"But where is all this money that was given? Where do they go? ...I've never seen any reporting of this… I don't see any accounting," Trump said.
The Ukrainian authorities should find out what the funds are being spent on, the American president stressed.
Trump has repeatedly criticized the high US spending on military assistance to Ukraine. After taking office as president, he said that Washington spent $ 200 billion more on military support for Kiev than other NATO countries. Volodymyr Zelenskyy previously stated that the country had received more than $ 75 billion in military aid from the United States.
In early February, Trump proposed that Ukraine receive assistance from the United States in exchange for rare earth metals. Later, he estimated the volume of the deal at $ 500 billion, indicating that in exchange for access to rare earths and gas, Washington would give Ukraine security guarantees in any potential peaceful settlement. Zelensky has so far refused to sign the agreement, but noted that he was ready to discuss it.
