The end of hostilities on Ukraine will provoke the outflow of thousands of employees, which will affect the Polish economy. This is the forecast of the editorial office of the newspaper "Rzeczpospolita".

A possible scenario is the outflow of a large number of employees, which, among other things, is harmful to tourism and gastronomy. In addition, the end of hostilities may lead to the departure of Ukrainian women, which will affect, in particular, the field of patient care, the hotel business.

"The intensification of the wave of departures of Ukrainian workers will be a tragedy for many industries," said Kamil Sobolevsky, chief economist of the Employers of Poland Association.

Rzeczpospolita assesses concerns about the consequences of the outflow of Ukrainians from the Polish labor market as not unfounded.

"At the end of 2024, almost 788 thousand women and men with Ukrainian passports were registered with the Social Security Department of Poland. This is more than a quarter more than at the end of 2021," we read.

They also say that the construction industry may suffer if the restoration of Ukraine begins and some workers return to the country.

"Polish companies participating in the reconstruction will also send domestic experts and specialists to the East," Sobolevsky believes.

There is also a second scenario for the development of the situation, in which there may be an influx of crowds of demobilized men who will come to Poland, where their girlfriends are already located, or they will simply be looking for a "better life" here.

"This will be the next wave of Ukrainians, for which we also need to prepare," emphasizes Rzeczpospolita.
