An unpleasant surprise awaits Russian pensioners in March — the amount of pension payments in the first month of spring for most recipients will be less than in February.
Viktor Lyashok, senior researcher at the INSAP Center of the IPEI Presidential Academy, made the necessary explanations about this in a comment to the Prime agency.
He noted that in February, Russian pensioners, along with the usual monthly pension, also received an additional payment for inflation.
The expert recalled that in January insurance pensions were increased by the planned 7.3 percent. However, according to Rosstat, inflation was higher.
Based on this, at the end of January, the authorities decided to increase the indexation to 9.5 percent.
"Thus, compensation was added to the February payments for the part of the pension that was not received in January," Lyashok explained.
In other words, in February, many received an additional payment for two months at once. It is clear that this will not happen again in March — the accrual of pensions in March will be standard, without double allowances.
Earlier, EADaily reported that the Russian Government submitted to the State Duma for ratification a protocol amending the agreement with South Ossetia on pension provision for Russian citizens permanently residing in the republic.
