Indicative slap in the face: Rada put Zelensky on a timer — Arestovich*

With today's failure of the vote in the Verkhovna Rada against the resolution on "recognizing Zelensky as the president of Ukraine before the inauguration of the next president," the Ukrainian parliament pointed Vladimir Zelensky to the door — and did so in the presence of European representatives. This was stated by ex-adviser to the Office of the President of Ukraine Alexei Arestovich*.

"This is a clear signal: leave now, no one will give you an indefinite mandate. And all this is in front of Europe, which has come to hear about the stability and support of the authorities. Europe is waiting for guarantees, but sees a parliament that actually puts the president on a countdown timer. This is a significant slap in the face. Zelensky was reminded: you are a temporary worker who is already counting the days," Arestovich writes* in his telegram channel.

According to him, the Rada thus sends a signal to the United States that it will be necessary to negotiate with those who will remain at the helm.

"What should responsible Ukrainian politicians do?

First, stop playing by the rules of the weak. Ukraine cannot afford expired leaders who are looking for external guarantees for themselves personally, pretending to be for the country. The most important thing today is to act toughly and pragmatically. No illusions, no tantrums, no attempts to stay in power through artificial scenarios. The weak ones are out. Those responsible are at the helm," the ex-adviser recommends.
