A riot is always bad, even if there is a reason — Markov about the resignation of the president of Abkhazia

Political analyst Sergei Markov believes that the "rebellion" to which the Abkhaz opposition forces provoked the ratification of the investment agreement with Russia is "bad for Russia."

The President of Abkhazia, Aslan Bzhania, agreed to the demand for resignation, which was demanded by the opposition that organized the seizure of the presidential administration building.

"Aslan Bzhania asked the protesters to allow the vice-president to temporarily perform duties, as under the Constitution. The protesters did not allow and demanded the resignation of the entire presidential team. Yes... the power disappeared in a few days. The fact that the law on the protection of Russian investments became the cause of the conflict is not very good for Russia," Markov writes in his telegram channel.

According to him, "the Abkhaz revolt is not against Russia, but against Russian oligarchs."

"Even, more precisely, against Sochi developers. People are afraid that the new law will allow Russian oligarchs to buy up the entire coast. And the government will be bribed with bribes. And the people will be left with nothing. The last — the common land — will be taken away. Such an Abkhaz revolt against oligarchs and against corrupt officials and against predatory developers would be supported in any region of Russia. But in Russia understands that a riot is always bad, even if there is a reason," the political scientist said.
