Hungary and Bulgaria have found a way to pay for Russian gas — Szijjarto

Hungary and Bulgaria will continue the transit of Russian gas under the conditions of US sanctions, as they have found a solution to this issue that is legally and financially acceptable to the parties.

This was announced by Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto on his page on one of the social networks. He clarified that a payment method has been found that does not fall under US sanctions against Gazprombank.

It is precisely because of these sanctions that difficulties have arisen for Budapest, which receives gas through the Turkish Stream, and Sofia receives money for its transit.

Thus, Hungary has already received more than 7 billion cubic meters of blue fuel this year alone. Szijjarto said that this problem has been solved, but did not disclose details.

Meanwhile, Sofia's position does not look so definite — the Bulgarian Energy Ministry said that only a "solution to the problem" was discussed, which would allow gas to be supplied to Hungary, and Bulgaria to continue receiving transit fees.

As EADaily reported, Bulgaria had previously warned that it could stop the transit of Russian gas to Central Europe if Gazprom did not find a payment solution.,
