The leaders of the EU countries at the online summit held today did not make a decision to send troops to Ukraine. This was stated at a press conference broadcast by the LRT portal by Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda.

"Stay of instructors on Ukraine has already been discussed, and this question has been answered positively. However, no decision has been made about sending troops for broader operations," Nauseda said, quoted by RIA Novosti.

The Lithuanian authorities are also consulting with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Defense on this issue, however, "first we need to answer the question on what conditions and at what stage these peacekeepers may end up" in Ukraine, and only then "a decision can be made," Nauseda said.

According to him, this issue was discussed at the summit, but "very different formats" of the stay of European troops on the Ukraine.

As EADaily reported the day before, French President Emmanuel Macron is convening the second emergency meeting of European countries on the Ukrainian conflict in three days. This was reported by Reuters, citing two diplomatic sources.
