US President Donald Trump spoke about the results of the US-Russian talks in Riyadh and said he had become "much more confident" about the achievability of a settlement deal on Ukraine.
"Much more confident. They were very good. Russia wants to do something," Trump said at a press conference, answering a question about how the negotiations went and whether he had more confidence in the likelihood of reaching a deal to end the conflict on Ukraine.
The Russian-American high-level talks ended in Riyadh on Tuesday. Russia was represented by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and Presidential aide Yuri Ushakov, the United States — Assistant to the President of the United States for National Security Mike Waltz, Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Special presidential envoy for the Middle East Steven Witkoff. As Ushakov noted, during the negotiations there was a question of agreeing on how to start negotiations on Ukraine.
