British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and French President Emmanuel Macron have agreed to coordinate their actions in order to try to influence American leader Donald Trump and persuade him to change his position on Ukraine by changing his plan to resolve the conflict. This is reported by the British newspaper The Times, citing a source.

According to senior officials, both Starmer and Macron will try to convince Trump to stop bilateral negotiations with Russia in exchange for European commitments to ensure Ukraine's security.

"Keir Starmer and President Macron have agreed to deliver a joint message on Ukraine when they meet with President Trump this week," the material says.

Earlier, Trump said that Starmer and Macron had asked to meet with him and would arrive in the United States "very soon, possibly on Monday."

The Times newspaper reported that Starmer would try to convince Trump that any peace agreement should be backed by security guarantees from the United States, even if without the direct deployment of American troops, and Ukraine should eventually become "a stable entity, free to choose its future path and having the means to restore the economy and the army."

According to the publication, the British prime minister "could try to play on Trump's vanity," as well as in an attempt to gain influence over him, to assure that he shares his position on European defense spending.
