Turkey and Azerbaijan want to develop together, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said after a meeting with Azerbaijani leader Ilham Aliyev.

"I was very pleased to receive my brother, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, in Turkey. We are making great progress in all areas of our fraternal relations, embodied in the slogan "One nation — two States." Relations between our countries are constantly developing in many areas — from defense to trade," the message on Erdogan's page on the X social network says.

According to Erdogan, Turkey and Azerbaijan stand for peace and security.

"We just want peace in our region, we want cooperation, we want to develop together. We are determined to jointly implement all kinds of projects aimed at regional peace, prosperity and security," Erdogan said.

He stressed that the energy sector is at the forefront of this cooperation.

During his visit to Ankara, Ilham Aliyev delivered a speech at the opening ceremony of the Ygdyr—Nakhchivan gas pipeline. Azerbaijan ensures the energy security of many countries with its gas transit through Turkey, he said. According to Aliyev, in 2025 exports amounted to 25 billion cubic meters.

Aliyev also noted that today Azerbaijan and Turkey are actively implementing giant projects — Baku—Tbilisi—Ceyhan, Baku—Tbilisi—Erzurum and TANAP. According to Aliyev, these projects not only connected Azerbaijan and Turkey, but also changed the energy map of Eurasia.
