The World Anti-Doping Agency has lost Belarusian contributions, but Minsk is not to blame

WADA

Minsk cannot pay its annual contribution to the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) due to sanctions imposed on Belarusian banks. This was announced at the international anti-doping forum "Clean Sport without Borders" by the Minister of Sports and Tourism of the Republic Sergey Kovalchuk.

"There are sanctions in the banking sector that do not allow payments of contributions to the World Anti—Doping Agency," he said.

According to his deputy Alexander Barauli, due to sanctions against banks, "everything rests on technical difficulties."

Recall that in November 2023, WADA reported that Russia and Belarus did not intend to pay annual contributions to the organization. However, in July 2024, Russia paid part of the contribution for 2023. According to the World Anti-Doping Agency, in 2023 Belarus had to pay WADA $ 46,032, and in 2024 — $ 49,340.
